To Pray For Michael Schumacher’s Recovery UPDATE

It’s been 91 days since Michael Schumacher’s skiing accident. Put into an induced coma for a craniectomy, Michael has not regained consciousness.  Please continue to pray for his recovery.

I found out early this morning that Michael Schumacher, the 7-time Formula One Champion (1994, 1995, 2000, 2001, 2002,2003, 2004) who retired for a second time last year, sustained a head injury while skiing a few days ago.

Please say a quick prayer for his full recovery, ok? I’ll provide you with more details on his accident and condition in a moment, but let me, the resident gearhead at the Patheos Catholic channel, beg you your prayers.

See, I suffered injuries (head trauma) similar to his in my career ending accident, too. Through the prayers of friends, family, and strangers unknown to me, I recovered with no loss of brain function. Indeed, everything you read about Michael Schumacher, from being airlifted to the hospital, to undergoing neurosurgery, I endured as well.

This doesn’t matter in the slightest, but Schumi is a Catholic too, so take care of him prayer wise, umkay? He foundly remembers his meeting with Blessed Pope John Paul II, here.

Now about those promised details, here’s the latest on his condition from (believe it, or not) Wikipedia.

On 29 December 2013, Schumacher was skiing with his son on the Dent de Burgin near Méribel in the French Alps when he fell and hit his head on a rock, sustaining a head injury despite wearing a ski helmet. Schumacher was skiing on an unsecured area between two marked pistes at that time. He was attended by two ski patrollers and airlifted within fifteen minutes to the local hospital in Moûtiers and then to Centre hospitalier universitaire de Grenoble, a regional hospital that specialises in the treatment of brain injuries.[188][189]

On 30 December, it was announced that Schumacher was in critical condition and in a medically induced coma due to suffering a traumatic brain injury and had undergone urgent neurosurgery to relieve pressure on his brain after a scan showed he had suffered cerebral contusion.[190] On the following day, doctors said that Schumacher had undergone a second surgery and his condition had improved slightly, although he was still “not out of danger” and the condition remains critical. The doctors said they would need still more to time to give a prognosis.[191] According to his physicians, Schumacher would most likely have died had he not been wearing a helmet.[192]

On 1 January 2014, three days after his accident, it was reported that Schumachers condition was “critical but stable”, and that he had shown some signs of improvement.[193]

Here’s a short video on Schumacher’s career.

Thanks for your prayers.
