Missing Rome, the Vatican, and Florence? Watch the First Twelve Minutes of “The Agony And The Ecstasy”

It’s streaming over at Netflix, now. It’s one of the many movies that I never got around to seeing until now. In the first twelve minutes, you see gorgeous shots of St. Peter’s Square, as well as narrated details on all of Michelangelo’s sculptures. Really, it’s like a personalized tour, the likes of which most of us will never experience.

As the narration ends, and the camera pans across the rainbow arcing above the dome of St. Peter’s, you may even decide to stick around and watch Charlton Heston and Rex Harrison play their parts as the artist, and the pontiff. Check out the trailer,

Michelangelo and the Medici’s? Time to make some popcorn.
